Ordering Chicken

How can I buy chicken from Nieder Farms?

We sell whole, frozen chickens. We raise chickens throughout spring, summer, and fall and often sell them in batches. Due to this, we often have chickens readily available during these seasons. You may also pre-order and reserve chickens for certain times of the year.

To place an order, email us at niederfarms@gmail.com or send us a message on our @niederfarms Instagram channel.

How does pricing work?

Chickens are priced by the pound and typically weigh between 3.5 - 5 pounds. Currently our chickens are $4 per pound.

How will I receive my chickens?

You may pick up your chickens at our farm, located in Krakow, Missouri. Delivery available on orders over $100, depending on location. Please email us at niederfarms@gmail.com or send us a message on our @niederfarms Instagram channel to see if we can deliver to you.

Who processes your chickens?

We process our own chickens, right here on the farm. We take care of them from the moment we receive our chicks, and treat them humanely until the moment they’re processed. Our chickens are cleaned, prepped, and bagged by our own hands, in our own backyard, ensuring each one is up to our standards.

Do you offer USDA or MMPIP chickens?

If you plan to sell chicken in a retail or restaurant setting, USDA or MMPIP inspection is required. We don’t offer that service yet, but please check back next year.

Do you offer specific cuts?

Currently, we only offer whole chickens. We are happy to share our tips and tricks for cutting them and/or cooking them whole.

How are your chickens packaged?

Our chickens are packaged in clear, shrink wrap bags.

How are your chickens raised?

Our chickens arrive to us at two days old, and remain on our farm until the day you take them home. Our chickens are pasture-raised, which means they live outdoors, on our pasture as nature intended. They never receive hormones, antibiotics, vaccines, or other chemicals. Our chickens have plenty of room to roam and forage, and are moved to fresh pasture daily. You can learn more about how our chickens are raised here.

I don’t live in Missouri. Can I still order from you?

We don’t currently ship our chicken out of state. If you are out of state but still interested in ordering, please reach out to us on Instagram or via email and we’d be happy to chat.

What is the difference between pastured chicken and other types?

Pastured chickens are raised on our pasture where they can forage for grass, insects, and other natural foods, resulting in a richer flavor and higher nutritional value. Conventionally raised chickens are often kept in confined spaces and fed a controlled diet, which can limit their natural behaviors and affect the quality of the meat. It’s also not a great life for the chickens, since they’re typically crammed into small area, which often breeds disease (a large reason why non-pastured poultry is vaccinated/received antibiotics). Our pastured chickens are raised without antibiotics and hormones, promoting better animal welfare and a far more sustainable farming practice.

What does it mean to be a regenerative farm?

Being a regenerative farm means that we focus on improving soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and creating resilient ecosystems through practices like rotational grazing and diversity. Our approach includes pasture-raised chickens and a new orchard (planted this year), which promotes natural cycles that reduce the need for synthetic inputs and enhance the land's productivity. This holistic management not only sustains our farm but also restores and revitalizes the environment for future generations.
